What exactly is the BIBWES?

The BIBWES is a family entertainment show broadcast live across the city and into some rural parts from University Centre at U of M, Saturday mornings from 9-11. Ratings show that we have at least 34 listeners and possibly as many as tens of thousands. Parking is free. Coffee is 80 cents from the machine next to the Book Store.

What is your mission statement?

The BIBWES opens the door of the radio waves so to speak to a limitless range of good clean radio fun.

What exactly am I letting myself in for?

Oh don’t be so defensive. The BIBWES brings guests together in a relaxed breakfast-time atmosphere to chat around a theme. There is about 50% music. Listeners are encouraged to phone in with questions for the guests or to participate in the hilarity. Some listeners are invited onto the show occasionally as Star Guests too.

Am I allowed to use rude words and slack grammar?

No, you must not say anything you would not want a child to hear. No, the show is regularly audited by Winnipeg’s Raging Grammarians to ensure the proper use of subordinate clauses. If you say “less” when you mean “fewer” your microphone will be automatically shut down.

Why should my Public Relations Officer induce me to participate?

Because you will make new friends. You can feel relaxed and happy and be yourself and have some fun for once and talk to people you have never talked to before. Glen Murray and Peter Kaufmann were on the show during the election campaign and they veritably blossomed. Peter may have lost the election because he brought in a Burt Bacharach CD. You may use the opportunity to publicize a charity or foundation or event too if you feel you need a justification for coming on the show.

Can I bring my parrot?

Yes. Guests are heartily invited to bring with them their own music selection of favourite tunes on CD. They may also bring family members along just for the fun, especially children and seniors. We also encourage guests to bring a “conversation piece” too, that is to say an inanimate object of small or great significance in their lives.
